Everything is Wrong

By "everything is wrong" I mean EVERYTHING. I look around me - I'm typing on a plastic and metal and glass computer perched on a desk made from cut down trees and toxic paint. I sit in a building made of wood and bricks that were taken from the earth on a street made of poisonous asphalt that was laid over an ecosystem that had thrived for hundreds of thousands of years. I'm clothed in cotton that was saturated with pesticides while it grew and treated and dyed with toxic chemicals while it was being processed. All of my possessions were made hundreds or thousands of miles away and shipped in styrofoam and plastic wrap via gas burning engines and destructive road and air ways to me. My food, although organically grown and completely vegan, is shipped from where it was grown to my local store and is often packaged in paper, plastic, metal, and toxic inks. I know tons of people that eat meat, smoke cigarettes, drive cars, use drugs, etc., even though they know that these things will ultimately hurt the quality (and length) of their lives. I live in an apartment building where no one is on a first name basis. I know more about idiot actors in hollywood that I've never met than I do about the woman who lives next door to me (and is probably more interesting). While walking to work I inhale toxic exhaust from cars sitting in traffic. To make sure that eating 3 cans of oven cleaner will make you sick, or to make sure that pouring nail polish remover into your eyes will hurt you, we torture mice, rabbits, dogs, cats, etc. We use toxic chlorine bleach to keep our underpants white. We cut down the rainforests to drill for oil so that we can drive to the video store. Do you see what I mean? Everything really is wrong. Even the back to nature people still drive cars and use products made from materials ripped out of the earth. People struggle all of their lives doing work that they hate just to be a functioning member of a system that is wasteful, destructive and unhealthy.

What I advocate is this a sensible, pragmatic, and non-destructive approach towards existence, we need to re-evaluate our practices. Just as it doesn't make sense to hire an elevator operator to run an automatic elevator it doesn't make sense for billions of people to drive to work alone in their cars. It doesn't make sense to consume animal products. It doesn't make sense to use pesticides on agricultural products. It doesn't make sense to derive power from nuclear, coal, and petroleum when we have solar, hydro, and wind power. It doesn't make sense to maintain destructive systems just because people earn their livings from them. It doesn't make sense to pour billions of tons of toxic chemicals onto our lawns so that they'll look pretty and green. I could go on but you're probably either bored or overwhelmed by now. I advocate change; massive, massive change.

Basically we should stop doing these things that are destructive to the environment, other creatures, and ourselves and figure out new ways of existing.

What Never can be a Choice

It was true, it is true and it will always be true...that I think eating and consuming animal products are wrong. And it was true, it is true and it will always be true...that I will never be "militant" at or scold or force anyone to not do so. I always understand people that people have deeply-ingrained world view that is the most simple to change because the original love is in each and everyone of us but it is also most difficult to change because of society and the way our attitudes have been fundamentally embedded.

For that, eating animals and consuming animal products is a "choice". Though it should never be forced upon, it is Never a Choice. Suffering, torture, abuse, pain are not a choice. Being born, raised and die like a piece of disposable object is not a choice.

It's this kind of thing that wakes people up, please don't turn away. If you don't feel anything, just think

"Grant animals a ray of reason, imagine what a frightful nightmare the world is to them: a dream of cold-blooded men, blind and deaf, cutting their throats, slitting them open, gutting them, cutting them into pieces, cooking them alive, sometimes laughing at them and their contortions as they writhe in agony. Is there anything more atrocious among the cannibals of Africa? To a man whose mind is free there is something even more intolerable in the sufferings of animals than in the sufferings of man. For with the latter it is at least admitted that suffering is evil and that the man who causes it is a criminal. But thousands of animals are uselessly butchered every day without a shadow of remorse. If any man were to refer to it, he would be thought ridiculous. And that is the unpardonable crime."

Please, now, ask your heart if it should stop prolonging the miserable lives

I don't know about Thailand but this is an enough reason we should quit eating nonhuman animals and dairy and egg.

The number of animals being raised and slaughtered on a yearly basis in the US alone is now over 10 BILLIONS food animals that are being killed. Not to mention the "production" nonhuman animals that churn out their babies to keep the "assembly kill lines" stocked.

As for the dog and cat issue (adopt rather than buy) that is needed to happen, according to the HSUS, they "euthanize" around 5 millions cats and dogs in the US. Still very tragic, but the number is so small compared to the 10 billions and of those, the majority of the "food animals" that are slaughtered (poultry), don't even have the most minimal protection (under the Humane Slaughter Act). At least there is some protection for dogs and cats.

Nonhuman animals raised and killed for food suffer horribly in factory farms, where they are kept in cramped and narrowed space, most can't even move or turn around, and never feel the grass and sunlight, all their life. The ways their nature intended are never answered and after suffering all their life, they are killed in the most cruel ways imaginable.

Non human animals are not different than us and they deserve care and love just as us because they have the same emotions and feelings. They should be treated like the ways humanimals are treated. I hope one day the humanimals' views of nonhuman animals will change. They are not "just animals", they are "life".

It's very sad to see what cruelty people are capable of inflicting to another beings.

Unfortunately, even now in our "civilized" times, there is still a plenty of need for compassion.

Narcissistic “fulfillment”

Will we continue to stand idly by as C. Wright Mills' “Power Elite” reduces us to over-consumptive, indentured automatons, with no voice and little choice but to devote our lives to the hollow, meaningless pursuits of materialism, the bread and circuses they provide, and narcissistic “fulfillment” via the wage and debt slavery that enables the perpetuation of their obscene gluttony and condemns our souls to pecuniary bondage?

The Atrocious Killer: The Reason why we should reject plastic bags

Garbage blights dive sites

By: APINYA WIPATAYOTIN

Marine officials found more than 22 tonnes of garbage dumped into the sea last year, most of it at famous dive spots. Koh Samaesarn in Chon Buri province was the site of the biggest undersea garbage dump, Department of Marine and Coastal Resources chief Samran Rakchart said yesterday.

The Samaesarn area of Sattahip district is where the mysterious containers that have been in the news lately are located. An investigation team is trying to find out what is inside the containers.

Half of the garbage found at Samaesan is plastic and beer bottles.

Koh Kra in Nakhon Si Thammarat province contains another large mound of garbage. Most of it is fishing equipment.

Mr Samran said his department had been collecting records of sunken garbage in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.

The trash causes the death of many marine animals every year, he said. Autopsies conducted on dead dolphins and sea turtles had found all manner of junk in their stomachs.

It is estimated that 6.4 million tonnes of garbage a year, or 1,800 tonnes a day, is being dumped into the sea globally. Almost 90% of the garbage is plastic waste.

3 Reasons to Stop Smoking

1. The environmental toll of tobacco farming is high.
Tobacco cultivation leads to deforestation and requires extremely poisonous pesticides.

2. It is a silent killer.
Tobacco makes you more prone to pneumonia, Tuberculosis - virtually any respiratory
infection. It makes you more likely to get cancer. Not just cancers you'd expect, like lung
and throat, but all kinds of cancer. It makes you more likely to get heart disease, the
primary killer of the developed world, and more susceptible to the often-deadly respiratory
infections of the developing world.

3. It tortures non-human beings.
Although health officials have known for decades that cigarette smoking leads to lung
cancer, emphysema, and other diseases, the tobacco industry, in a desperate bid to find
evidence to the contrary, still conducts painful experiments on dogs, cats, monkeys,
rabbits, chickens, rats, mice, and other non-humans animals.

At this very moment, pregnant monkeys's fetuses are exposed to nicotine, beagles' throats
are cut into holes and they are forced to breathe concentrated cigarette smoke for a year,
Dogs' penises are inserted with electrodes to measure the effect of cigarette smoke on
sexual performance, masks are trapped to the faces of rats and monkeys and permanently
restrain them to force them to breathe cigarette smoke constantly, dogs are forced to be
on mechanical ventilators and chronically exposed to cigarette smoke, rhesus monkeys are
restrained in chairs with head devices and exposing them to nicotine and caffeine to
determine how caffeine and nicotine affect breathing.
