I'm going to seriously quit coffee, tea and even chocolate after reading this after I've failed countless times - http://www.wholevegan.com/coffee.html. Many of the symptoms in this article are true as they occurred to myself. I had headache several times (on the next day when I stopped coffee after many days of having coffee) and one time it was the worst of the worst feeling like my head was fracturing and exploding, I had to took a leave from work.
Coffee is an addictive drug and makes you crave it for more once you drink it. And when you refrain from it, you get withdrawal (a drug-addict's bloody flux) symptoms. Any drug I believe is harmful to our body and mind.
Coffee is actually not a substance that truly helps you recover from fatigue. Instead, it fools your mind and sense that it is not tired by over-stimulation. It doesn't do anything to help recover fatigue. As a result, the body takes toll of not resting when the person is supposed to, and if continued, lead to inevitable Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Fatigue is a built-in alarm system for body to let you know your body is ticking over too much and recharge is needed. Thus it is only right to eliminate the cause of fatigue – not to turn off the signal. The causes of fatigue? People are tired because of their nutrition, kinds of activity done, level of stress, time rested and slept.
Strike at the real causes, not indulge in the harms of coffee, tea and chocolate.
Read this through and maybe it will inspire you as well: Coffee…What does it do to our body?http://www.wholevegan.com/coffee.html

It's this kind of thing that wakes people up, please don't turn away. If you don't feel anything, just think
"Grant animals a ray of reason, imagine what a frightful nightmare the world is to them: a dream of cold-blooded men, blind and deaf, cutting their throats, slitting them open, gutting them, cutting them into pieces, cooking them alive, sometimes laughing at them and their contortions as they writhe in agony. Is there anything more atrocious among the cannibals of Africa? To a man whose mind is free there is something even more intolerable in the sufferings of animals than in the sufferings of man. For with the latter it is at least admitted that suffering is evil and that the man who causes it is a criminal. But thousands of animals are uselessly butchered every day without a shadow of remorse. If any man were to refer to it, he would be thought ridiculous. And that is the unpardonable crime."
“We manage to swallow flesh, only because we do not think of the cruel and sinful thing we do.”

Transcend you consciousness into love, and nothing but love
In the new style of yoga class (named Transcendas) I took on Thursday, 9 Feb 2012 with Shane, with integration of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) into yoga, I learned about the qualities I wanted to bring into and take out of my life. Shane asked to to choose one quality from The Four Perfect Virtues of Buddhism that we would like to bring into our life:
Metta - Learning to be your best friend and then also learning to be a friend to others.
Karuna - Compassion or seeing suffering in yourself and seeing suffering in others, and doing something to overcome your own suffering and the suffering of others.
Mudita - Being happy when you see others happy.
Upekkha - Having an equanimous and non-reactive mind - being equally non-reactive to ups and downs of life.
Mudita - Being happy when you see others happy.
Upekkha - Having an equanimous and non-reactive mind - being equally non-reactive to ups and downs of life.
I chose Karuna - because I wanted to make my life to be of service to all lives Better. My current ways of living, though better than some others, are not good enough. So I spoke the word compassion in my mind while doing yoga poses that resembled bringing good energy into myself.
Shane also asked us to have in our minds a quality that we would like to discard from our lives/transform. In the actual class, I chose jealousy (like people with more beauty, haha), but I realize now that I want to choose "Minding others' bad treatment to me." Not that I can't retain my mind's stability when facing people saying bad to me, but sometimes I can't help feeling bad, though not too much.
And I want to transform bad treatment by others into Upekkha and love - into thinking that I might act wrongly, so I should improve; that I would never treat the same to anyone; and that everyone makes mistakes - Why do you expect humans with worldly nature to be perfect? It's not about forgiving - forgiving means you hate others which must happen before you forgive them, but understanding and working towards changing inner beings of all.

You can't feel it when you don't do it
They hurt you (by "hurt" psychological hurts sometimes are more violent than physical) because they are jealous of you - they want to be like you but they can't. They hurt you because their life are not at all in the realm of your way of life, so they completely can't understand what that kind of life is. But that does not mean you are hurt - it's them who are hurt, because every one of us subconsciously, though not consciously, suffers tremendously deep down inside because his/her intention is extremely negative. When you are sincere, well-intentioned, and never hurt others by your words or actions, you can never be hurt - you are blissful inside because of your peace, and you feel pitiful to them who are struggling with hurts they do to themselves by hurting others. Violence does not only mean killing another.

Please, now, ask your heart if it should stop prolonging the miserable lives
I don't know about Thailand but this is an enough reason we should quit eating nonhuman animals and dairy and egg.
The number of animals being raised and slaughtered on a yearly basis in the US alone is now over 10 BILLIONS food animals that are being killed. Not to mention the "production" nonhuman animals that churn out their babies to keep the "assembly kill lines" stocked.
As for the dog and cat issue (adopt rather than buy) that is needed to happen, according to the HSUS, they "euthanize" around 5 millions cats and dogs in the US. Still very tragic, but the number is so small compared to the 10 billions and of those, the majority of the "food animals" that are slaughtered (poultry), don't even have the most minimal protection (under the Humane Slaughter Act). At least there is some protection for dogs and cats.
Nonhuman animals raised and killed for food suffer horribly in factory farms, where they are kept in cramped and narrowed space, most can't even move or turn around, and never feel the grass and sunlight, all their life. The ways their nature intended are never answered and after suffering all their life, they are killed in the most cruel ways imaginable.
Non human animals are not different than us and they deserve care and love just as us because they have the same emotions and feelings. They should be treated like the ways humanimals are treated. I hope one day the humanimals' views of nonhuman animals will change. They are not "just animals", they are "life".
It's very sad to see what cruelty people are capable of inflicting to another beings.
Unfortunately, even now in our "civilized" times, there is still a plenty of need for compassion.

Schools: Useless for a free life
Schools are where they learn things that are useless for a free life, but necessary for a life of slavery and alienation. They create beings that depend on technology in order to live in these concrete nests called cities, but more closely resemble large prisons. They train malleable minds to be used for entrepreneurship and to expand civilization over wild nature. We will not permit this.

Narcissistic “fulfillment”
Will we continue to stand idly by as C. Wright Mills' “Power Elite” reduces us to over-consumptive, indentured automatons, with no voice and little choice but to devote our lives to the hollow, meaningless pursuits of materialism, the bread and circuses they provide, and narcissistic “fulfillment” via the wage and debt slavery that enables the perpetuation of their obscene gluttony and condemns our souls to pecuniary bondage?

Seeing is Not Thinking
An extract from THE GREAT LEAP OF MIND - Rubén Feldman González
Perhaps you'll agree with me that we have learnt to be incoherent and to insult intelligence moment by moment.
You are insulting intelligence right now smoking your tobacco cigarette. But it's not enough if I tell you. If you don't see right now what you are doing (in Unitary Perception) you'll never stop smoking.
QUESTION: I have to see that smoking is incoherent and unintelligent. But I see it and I don't stop smoking.
R.F.G.: You don't see that smoking is unintelligent, you think it is. When you see what smoking is you'll stop smoking immediately. To see is not to think.
Let's have another example of incoherence: "To procreate more children and earn more money is good for mankind."
In reality intelligence shouts to me that overpopulation and greed are destroying the livable surface of the planet and are endangering the life of all mammals, including my little dog and mankind.
For the first time in the written history of man we face the possibility of the end of mankind.
There is interpersonal incoherence, incoherence between ideas and belief, incoherence between man and nature, between the use of technology and the survival of man, incoherence between belief and action, etc.
QUESTION: I believe I understand that part of the problem is to have overvalued thought, the self and even our gross fantasies as if they were something "spiritual."
R.F.G.: Yes. But we don't see (in Unitary Perception) that the ecological and economic collapse of the industrial civilization (both capitalist and communist) have their root in overvaluing thought.
We are all going to die. You know.
The understanding that we are mortal, that nobody avoids that fate of man, brings great sorrow. That's why we spend our life avoiding to think of death and denying (unconsciously) the sorrow of thinking about our own death "when everything goes o.k."
We dont's talk about the man who wants to die because his cancer hurts.
When everything goes okay we deny the sorrow of knowing we are going to die.
Then we escape from that fundamental sorrow (which is also anger and fear).
The escapes are the search for profit, prestige, fame, power, pleasure, entertainment, etc.
Those escapes are easier when we believe the moment of the death is far away.
I say we have to understand paradox, because it is a necessary paradox to talk about silence. To talk about silence is not incoherent, it is a paradox.
There is something specific to do in silence. I call it Unitary Perception.
Another paradox is to understand that we live fully only when we accept that we are going to die and when we stop avoiding the sorrow of knowing we are going to die.
To live with death is to renounce the habit of verbalizing. Right here starts Unitary Perception.

Overpopulation and Climate Change
Dedicated to Blog Action Day 2009. This year's theme is Climate Change.
Climate change and global pollution cannot be adequately tackled without addressing the neglected issue of the world's booming population.
Overpopulation had fallen off the agenda of the many organisations dedicated to saving the planet.
By the middle of the century, the United Nations estimates that the world population is likely to increase to more than nine billion, which is equivalent to an extra 200,000 people each day.
"...per-capita emissions of carbon dioxide will likely rise in poor countries for some time yet, even in optimistic scenarios. But that is an issue of consumption, not population."
"...per-capita emissions of carbon dioxide will likely rise in poor countries for some time yet, even in optimistic scenarios. But that is an issue of consumption, not population."
To contradict this "consumption" argument...
Human consumption of natural resources and emission of CO2 requires humans. More humans equals more of what humans do.
Per-capita CO2 emissions will rise greatly in poor countries as they begin to afford the technologies we take for granted. No matter how efficient cars, appliances, machinery and so on become, increased production and use of them will increase CO2 emissions. It's cornucopian fantasy to think a population increasing by 50% can have a "First World" standard of living without causing serious ecological damage. It's fantasy to think it can be done in the first place.
Even if humans discover means to produce enough energy to support ourselves, even with ZERO damage to the environment, our use of energy will increase and we will cause damages, due simply to our increased numbers if nothing else.

The solution is easy...To have enough courage, compassion and love to not breed any more person to the earth. One less person born means a lifetime of resources saved, a lifetime of pollution halted, a lifetime of carbon emission ceased and a lifetime of forest and habitat destruction prevented.

Real Revolution
So what will make you change? Please ask yourself, burn with that question, because we have fallen into habit. Your house is burning, and apparently you do not pay attention. So, if you don't change, society remains as it is. And clever people are coming along saying that society must change, we need a new structure and the structure then becomes more important than man, as all revolutions have shown.
After considering all this, is there a learning, is there an awakening of intelligence, is there a sense of order in our lives? Or are we going back to the same routine? If you have that intelligence, that goodness, that sense of great love, then you will create a marvellous new society where we can all live happily. It's our earth not Indian earth, or English earth, Russian earth; it's our earth where we can live happily, intelligently, not at each others' throats. So, please give your heart and mind to find out why you don't change - even in little things. Please pay attention to your own life. You have extraordinary capacities. It is all waiting for you to open the door.

Garbage blights dive sites
By: APINYA WIPATAYOTIN
Marine officials found more than 22 tonnes of garbage dumped into the sea last year, most of it at famous dive spots. Koh Samaesarn in Chon Buri province was the site of the biggest undersea garbage dump, Department of Marine and Coastal Resources chief Samran Rakchart said yesterday.
The Samaesarn area of Sattahip district is where the mysterious containers that have been in the news lately are located. An investigation team is trying to find out what is inside the containers.
Half of the garbage found at Samaesan is plastic and beer bottles.
Koh Kra in Nakhon Si Thammarat province contains another large mound of garbage. Most of it is fishing equipment.
Mr Samran said his department had been collecting records of sunken garbage in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.
The trash causes the death of many marine animals every year, he said. Autopsies conducted on dead dolphins and sea turtles had found all manner of junk in their stomachs.
It is estimated that 6.4 million tonnes of garbage a year, or 1,800 tonnes a day, is being dumped into the sea globally. Almost 90% of the garbage is plastic waste.
